A South African Film Production Company Seeks for Actors

Rooftop Productions based in Port Elizabeth in South Africa have been commissioned to produce â€œThe Altar” a 3-part drama miniseries based on real-life stories of child marriage. The aim of the series is to educate audiences about the harsh realities of child marriage through a compelling and entertaining narrative.

They are currently auditioning for the pilot short to be filmed 10th â€“ 11th December 2019 in Port Elizabeth which will serve as an internal video.

Production filming will take place in May 2020 with the locations to be confirmed.

Please see the cast requirements below along with the character synopsis attached.

Synopsis:

The story follows the journey of 14-year-old Souris whose life falls apart as she’s forced to leave school and marry Abiso, a family friend 40 years older than her. Souris’ only hope is Ndidi, a kind, yet incredibly strong and resilient woman from the city who works for an organization which intervenes in child marriages – ensuring that girls can stay in school. The plot explores the tension around whether Ndidi will be able to rescue Souris from her abusive husband.
