NFA NOMINATED FOR FILM COMMISSION INITIATIVE OF THE YEAR
Congratulations to the National Film Authority (NFA) on its nomination in the ‘ FILM COMMISSION INITIATIVE OF THE YEAR’ category for the 3rd Annual Makers and Shakers Awards (MASA) 2022.
The NFA is the only film authority in Africa to be nominated in that category with Cherokee Nation Film Office, Dominican Republic Film Commission, Film Queenstown Lakes, Roma Lazio Film Commission, Trentino Film Commission, Green Film DOC and The Ukrainian Content, Global Cooperation Initiative.
MASA believes it is important to recognise the achievements of professionals who work tirelessly to facilitate and support the work of creatives. While traditional awards are fantastic at honouring the best creative work, they often overlook the achievements of professionals who pioneer change within the global industry. This is why the makers & shakers awards was born: with the intention of celebrating exceptional work that is being done on the ground.
This year’s shortlist for the awards represents trailblazers from all over the world and features remarkable utilisations of location, bold campaigns to enhance the global screen industries and pushing the boundaries of the global screen industries through innovation, diversity, sustainability and technology. These ideas were generated by some of the industry’s most creative and foreword-thinking figures, capturing the restless spirit of development which has come to define film, television and advertising in the post-pandemic climate.
MASA was launched at BAFTA in December 2019. It celebrates excellence in global production. After two successful award ceremonies, it will once again spotlight innovative and impactful contributions made by production professionals, freelancers, film commissions, government film liaison offices, studios, production services, support businesses and facilities.
The jury for the awards is of leading international professionals – including Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden (UK), LMGI, PACT and winners from the past editions – are ready to judge entries across six categories:
•Film Commission Initiative of the year
•Initiative to Grow local Industry
•Outstanding Creative Use of a Location (sponsored by NEOM)
•Production Tech Innovation of the year

The winners will be revealed at the live Awards Ceremony taking place at the newly renovated BAFTA Piccadilly in London on the 7th of December 2022.
