ADJETEY ANANG URGES FELLOW ACTORS TO SUPPORT NFA

Adjetey Anang, a renowned Ghanaian actor has urged his fellow actors to support the National Film Authority (NFA), as ripple effects of that will benefit the whole film industry.

In an Instagram live session with the NFA, the actor reckoned that disunity among practitioners has negatively affected the film industry. According to Adjetey, if the NFA is to be successful at developing, streamlining and promoting the industry, players would have to come together and support the authority. This approach he believes, will provide a justifiable opportunity to also hold the authority accountable.

Adjetey Anang commended the National Film Authority for being consistent in their drive to make the industry work through some of its innovative projects such as the Presidential Film Pitch Series, Wikiproject and others.

The National Film Authority, under the Development and Classification of Film Act 935 is set up by the Government of Ghana to regulate the ecosystem of film in Ghana. As part of the mandate to promote the Ghanaian film market, the NFA continues to create avenues for filmmakers to do business and grow the film sector.

To upcoming actors, Adjetey shared some essential tips to improve acting skills.

Acting Tips by Adjetey Anang

Preparation Before You Get On Set- Research, dig in, and know the demands of your character. If your script demands your character to know how to drive, don’t wait till the day of shoot before alerting your director. Give the director ample time to plan and know how to handle it.

Create, Rehearse And Consolidate- Use the mirror! The mirror doesn’t lie, it gives back what you give to it. If it’s a smile that needs to be perfected, use the mirror to rehearse to achieve that enchanting and connecting smile.

Learn From All – Open up to new entrants no matter the number of years of experience you have. This new entrant might have something unique you don’t have. Observe them, pick the uniqueness and make them your own. That is how you stay relevant and consistent.

Don’t Be Too Self Conscious- Let go of yourself and get into character. Don’t be afraid to show bad sides of your face because of show business . Self consciousness can hamper your deliveries. Enter into your character and lose yourself totally so you’re not conscious about your looks.

Listen To Your Critics- First of all, be your number one critic! Avoid sycophants. Pick up what’s been said about you, do some introspection and work on it. Don’t shun criticisms because they are tools to improve your craft.

Be a Brand- After set, life is not over. You become a brand so make sure that choices you make mentors and inspires someone. How do you talk to people? Are you rude? Make sure your lifestyle makes a positive impact on people.

Adjetey Anang has featured in many hit movies and television shows. He became popular in his role as ‘Pusher’ in the television series, ‘Things We Do For Love’ in the early 2000s.
