The Picture Perfect Movie – 10 Years Later; A Sequel We Have Been Waiting For

About a decade ago, Sparrow Productions now known as Sparrow Pictures, produced one of their most popular films ‘The Picture Perfect’. It was a romantic comedy starring actors and actresses such as Jackie Appiah, Adjetey Anang, Chris Attoh just to mention a few.

Just when we all thought the movie was done and dusted; Award-winning producer, writer, and director ‘Shirley Frimpong Manso’ her team announced a sequel of the movie after over 10 years since the original ‘The Picture Perfect’ was produced.

There has been a lot of reactions from people since the reveal was made and they are quite positive. Everyone’s fingers are crossed in anticipation of what this aftermath movie would entail. Well, with Shirley Frimpong as the director, it’s safe to say that the movie would be a hitmaker and an interesting one too.

“The Perfect Picture” is listed in an article we posted some time ago about some 21 Ghanaian films you must watch and one of the reasons why it is in the list is simply because it is arguably a classic. For Sparrow Pictures to go ahead with such a project regardless of the risk that it might face crucial critics and comparison if the storyline doesn’t complement the original movie, then it shows they have done their homework well and are definitely prepared to blow our minds.

Shirley had this to say about the aftermath movie; “Been prepping for these ten years, I can’t wait till everyone see the magic we are creating”. Not being left out, Kenneth Attoh said; “This is a great opportunity to outdo a classic while creating another classic. ‘The Picture Perfect – 10 Years Later’ will be visually stunning”. With all this said, we are convinced that the movie will be really good.

This aftermath film brought back cast and characters from the previous movie, and what a wonderful reunion it must have been. Listed below are the returning cast of the highly anticipated movie; Jackie Appiah, Lydia Forson, Naa Ashorkor Mensah-Doku, Adjetey Anang, Chris Attoh, Joselyn Dumas, John Dumelo and Kwaku Sintim-Misa. The new casts and characters included are Nollywood’s Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), Beverly Naya, Gideon Okeke,  some Ghanaian actors, Anita Erskine, Gloria Sarfo and Raphael Boakye.

With all the listed stars in this movie, it’s quite evident that Shirley went all out for this sequel and wants to give her viewers nothing but the best.

The Picture Perfect – 10 years Later is reported to be endorsed and included as part of the celebration for The Year of Return, in support of the campaign to position Ghana as a key travel destination for African Americans and African Diaspora. This endorsement was possible due to the vibrant costume, indigenous music and unique locations used in the movie.

The movie is obviously Directed and Produced by Shirley Frimpong Manso – the founder and CEO of Sparrow Pictures, and shot by the co-producer, Kenneth Attoh. We all love Ken Attoh’s cinematography and we are definitely looking forward to seeing what he does in this film.

The anticipated film will begin to show on Cinema from 14th December 2019 in Ghana and from 20th Dec in Nigeria. The movie would premier in Ghana at the Labadi Beach Hotel on the 1st of December before hitting the cinema. See you all on the 14th at the Silverbird cinema!
